Western Digital Ships First 2.5-inch 1TB Hard Drive

While I was doing my transcribing work, I heard the speaker on the audio talks about this powerful hard drive and sounds interesting to me. So I stop what I'm doing and research for Western Digital Hard Drive. What capture my attention is not because of this being compact but because it is 750 GB. Wow!

Finds application in select notebooks and external storage devices.
Western Digital has announced two new mobile hard drives in the 2.5-inch form factor featuring 1TB and 750GB capacities. The new drives belong to Scoprio Blue lineup of internal hard drives from the outfit and sport 333GB/platter.
The new WD Scorpio Blue 750GB & 1TB Hard Drives have a 12.5mm height (9.5mm is the standard). As a result, their application is kind of restricted to select notebooks and small form factor PCs which support that size. But the biggest revolution is expected to happen in the portable & external storage space. WD is all set to roll out 750GB & 1TB versions of My Passport Essential SE Portable USB Drives.
Pricing & Availability:
WD Scorpio Blue 750GB (model no. WD7500KEVT) drives are now available through select distributors and resellers. It would be more difficult to get your hands on the 1TB version (model no. WD10TEVT) though. They will be available in the form of My Passport Essential SE USB drive only (atleast for now). Western Digital's MSRP for the WD Scorpio Blue 1TB & 750GB drives are $249.99 and $189.99

SM Megamall WiFi Testing

I was at Megamall this afternoon for the WiFi testing. I used my Nokia N82 and mitch's laptop for the WiFi test.

Using my phone, I tried to accessed Yahoo Messenger,Pinoy Exchange, Multiply and Yahoo Mail. It was not fast for those website except for YM. I was not abled to access Yahoo Mail with my phone with their WiFi.

Using laptop, I was able to accessed YM,Pinoy Exchange, Facebook, Friendster, Multiply, Gmail and Yahoo Mail. I was able to accessed those website but still it was not fast enough. See the speedtest below.

They said that WiFi at Megamall is already 80% up and in a month it will be 100% up. Hopefully the speed will improve. Still, I'm happy that Megamall is now WiFi ready. :)

The event started at 1:00pm and the raffle draw started at 5pm, unfortunately I didn't win any prices but that's alright, we were able to enjoy a free Sprite and chicken sandwich from Mister Donut.

Next SM WiFi launching will be at SM Fairview and SM Pampanga simultaneously on July 11.

Taxi Receipt in the Philippines

Issuing taxi receipt is one of the excellent program of LTFRB. I know that most of us has a story to tell about having a bad experienced riding a taxi. Either the meter is so fast, the driver has an attitude, etc. Taxi receipt will definitely prevent drivers to cheat with their meters.

Under the program, taxi receipts must contain the name of the operator and taxi driver, the cab’s license plate, the passenger’s destination and the total fare paid.

My friend just rode a taxi issuing a taxi receipt. According to the driver the operator decided to get the meter now to avoid the inconvenience it's bound to bring once the LTFB formally announces in December that all cabs should have one. It cost P12,000 - 18,000 per unit. I know its a bit expensive but hey, operators you have a business, so putting this kind of meter is just an investment. i'm pretty sure that passengers prefer to ride in taxi with this type of meter.

Kudos to LTFRB and operators who already install this type of meter on their taxi/s.
