Basic Requirements for Homebased Work

Before you start finding a job online, make sure that you have the basic requirements to apply and complete the job.

1. Personal Computer either a desktop or laptop.
- You don't really need to have a high-end PC if you're applying for Data Entry or transcriptionist.

2. A fast internet (DSL) connection to download and upload files.
- This is a MUST. You must have a fast connection to the internet because most of the time you will be downloading large files or you need to response right away and send the information to your client as fast as possible. Most of the "buyer" or individual/company that are looking for "provider" like you often ask how fast is your internet connection. If its not fast enough for them, its unlikely that they will get you to do the project.

3 User accounts at YM, Skype, Google, MSN, and other online messaging programs as may be required by your clients.
- You must have an online messaging program so that your client can chat with you during the time that you agreed to work on their project.

4. A headset.
If you're applying for a transcriptionist a headset is a must.

5. And finally you must have the right skills and attitude towards working online.

If everything is check, you can now register on those those website that post homebased jobs.

Michael Jackson's Death, Made traffic spikes on the Web

- from http://searchengineland.com

An extraordinary day of breaking news on Thursday led to record-breaking traffic spikes as people searched online for information about the deaths of Farrah Fawcett and, especially, Michael Jackson. And just like their counterparts in traditional media, the news divisions of Google, Yahoo, and Bing responded with sometimes extraordinary measures to ensure they were giving searchers the most accurate and current news available.
Below, a look not only at the extreme traffic spikes that took place, but also an insider’s look at what happened as each search engine — and Wikipedia — grappled with the demands of a nearly unprecedented surge of interest in the day’s breaking news.
Google: “An all-hands-on-deck moment”
“Thursday was a pretty out-of-the-ordinary day.” That’s how spokesperson Gabriel Stricker describes the scene at Google’s headquarters while millions of people were online trying to find out what happened to Michael Jackson. Google has written about what it calls an “outpouring of searches” about Jackson. Stricker says Google saw a wide range of queries — like “michael jackson died” and “michael jackson hoax” — that peaked at about 3:00 pm PST.

The rush of traffic was so severe that Google initially thought it was under attack.
“That was an all-hands-on-deck moment,” Stricker says, “until we were able to determine that the original assessment was wrong, that it wasn’t an attack.” The massive spike in searches “tricked” Google News into showing an interstitial error page for about 25 minutes.

Spidermetrix: Paid Surveys

Have you heard of online surveys that you can complete and get paid? I don't know if its for real or just a hoax. I never bother to try or check any sites before.

But since I'm a bum and spend most of my time in front on my PC looking for jobs that I can do at home or some ways to earn money online. I saw this ad on Facebook saying something about answering surveys and get paid. I click the ad with no hesitations and it redirect me to SpiderMetrix. I just follow the instruction for registration. I said to myself "What the heck, I have nothing to lose, if this thing will ask for payment or my credit card information I will stop what I'm doing" . I was able to finish the registration and it didn't ask me to enter credit card information :)

SpiderMetrix is based in Australia and they are paid by clients to answer surveys. Once you become a member or what they call "Spider", you will earn points by answering surveys. Once your points accumulate, you can claim your points and transfer it to your Paypal account.

For the first time member, you will earn your first 29 points by completing your profile and answering the trial survey. You can also earn points by submitting entries to spider voice. Voice is comments on their forum. Once your comment or entry is approved, you will earn 1 point for it but remember you can only submit 2 voices each week.

I already earn 30 points but can't claim it yet I have to earn at least to 300 points to convert it to cash. The lowest conversion to cash is 300 points to $50.00. The highest that you can convert is 2,000 points and it is equivalent to $350.00

It looks like legit but can't guarantee on that yet until I earn something from it. I'll check this website everyday and watch out for surveys that I "CAN" answer so that I could earn points.

Remember be honest with all your answers on the surveys because they will going to close your account. Its one of the terms and condition before you sign up. Again, be "Honest".

Transcriptionist Practice

Since I started hunting for projects that I could work at the convenience of my home, what I'm really looking for are transcribing or data entry projects. Since transcribing pays better than data entry projects, I told myself that I should polished my listening and typing skills. So I surf on the net and found a website that could help me do this.

www.listen-and-write.com is design for people who wants to practice their listening and writing skills (or should I say typing skills). You can register and track your scores. They have different audio files that you can work on to practice your skills. The audio files can be found under Level tab and categorized based on their difficulty level.

ComeBuy, a Must Buy

ComeBuy, the first time I heard it from my sister-in-law I thought it was a Chinese word or something. She told me that its something that must try in Macau. Curious of what she said, so I told my hubby that we should try it.

When we went out on the streets of Macau, I was amazed when I saw that Comebuy shop is everywhere. When I said everywhere its like a bus stop that for sure there's somewhere near where you are. And eventhough they have a lot of stores, all their shops are always crowded with people.

Getting more curious of what it taste, me and my hubby decided to get into the crowds. I ordered Taro Milk Tea and my hubby ordered Hazelnut Milk Tea. After waiting for few minutes, we finally got our drinks. We decided not to drink it first and just take it at KFC where we decided to have our snacks.

Judgement time. My Taro Milk tea (cold) although there's a sweet tast of taro but still it manage to give you a refreshment while the hazelnut milk tea is equally tasteful but less sweeter. Compare to other tapioca pearl drink available,Comebuy used a real tea while some usually used powdered ingredients that most of the time gives a medicine like taste.

Should I say that Comebuy Tea is really a must try or should I say a must buy drink not only in Macau but I believe its also available in China and Taiwan.

I'm now dreaming of having my own ComeBuy shop here in the Philippines.
